Greg Koski Bio

Dr. Edward Greg Koski is a distinguished figure in the fields of biochemical pharmacology, anesthesiology, critical care medicine, and research ethics. He has had a long and impactful career at Harvard, where he served as an Associate Professor at the Harvard Medical School in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH).   His tenure at Harvard spanned nearly five decades, during which he was actively involved in basic research, clinical investigation, teaching, administration, and patient care.

Dr. Koski's commitment to research ethics is evident through his significant contributions to the field. He was appointed as the first Director of the Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP) within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). In this role, he led efforts to protect human subjects in biomedical and behavioral research, providing leadership for all federal agencies funding such research at universities, research centers and corporations across the country and around the world. His work at OHRP was instrumental in heightening oversight of biomedical research and reinforcing the responsibilities of research participants, clinical investigators, research institutions, and sponsors to benefit all.

Dr. Koski is also the co-founder and President of the Alliance for Clinical Research Excellence and Safety (ACRES), a global non-profit organization dedicated to improving clinical research and health-science through systems thinking and information technology. ACRES aims to create an integrated Intelligent HealthScience System that benefits patients worldwide by fostering innovative, collaborative, technology-enabled  systems approaches to improving established practices, accessibility and outcomes in clinical practice, research and safety.  His career is marked by his unwavering dedication to advancing medical research and ensuring the ethical conduct of research involving human participants, making him a respected leader in his field.
